Brookdale Hospital Kicks off World AIDS Day tomorrow, November 30th!

“November 30, 2016 – Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center’s HIV department along with the Treatment for Life Center (TLC), Watchful Eye, and the Mehala Isadora Miller (MIM) Foundation will host a World AIDS Day Kickoff Event on Wednesday, November 30th at 11:30 AM at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center’s Kahn Auditorium, 555 Rockaway Parkway, Brooklyn. During the event, a patient living with HIV will speak about their experience, physicians and experts will discuss resources for prevention of the virus and intervention needs, and HIV screenings will be available throughout the event and in the days following.

Brookdale doctors including Dr. Andre Brutus will be joined by Divinah “Dee” Bailey, Founder of Watchful Eye, a community-based organization that ensures that HIV/AIDS remains a part of every community’s public health agenda; and Joy Frazier, founder of the MIM Foundation, which provides housing and assistance for mothers with HIV.

Along with the provided HIV services and screenings, entertainment will take place during the event by the youth steel band Waverly Sound and members of the Brookdale Staff.

In addition to November 30th, HIV screenings will also be available at Brookdale University Hospital and all Brookdale Family Care Centers on December 1st and December 2nd to meet the growing need of HIV/AIDS prevention in the community.
