Get a little closer to that special someone with a little music… and drinks, of course. The venue hosts various musicians ranging from indie rock to samba to jazz. Even if the night didn’t quite start out right, good music will put everything back in its place and elevate the mood. With a $5 suggested donation and $4 draft beers and well drinks during happy hour (4-8pm DAILY), this is a no-brainer. Who doesn’t love bowling? Take your date here to knock down some pins and wolf down some amazing chicken wings. This spot boasts having the best fried chicken ever made. Not only is it a bowling alley, but it’s a lounge, bar and music venue (Questlove performed last week) all in one. What more could you possibly ask for? The night is yours. Into Cabaret? Then look no further than this spot. Comic Bastard Keith hosts in between each amazing act, and keeps things running smoothly. This is not for the faint of heart. - Black Mountain Wine House (Gowanus)
Dimly lit and intimate, this place is beyond romantic. If you truly want to impress a woman, bring her here. With excellent wine and delicious food (the Mac and Cheese is to die for!), you’ll be sure to win her over. There’s even a fireplace. Sigh. It’s not in use right now, but when winter comes back around, it’ll give you an excuse to cozy up to your date. - Brooklyn Botanic Garden (Crown Heights)
If you’re a true sweetheart and want to enjoy the beauty in nature, this is a great idea for a simple date. You’ll explore all the exhibits in about 2 hours, giving you a chance to really get to know your date along the way. The orchids might even inspire some hand-holding and kisses. Revel in the breathtaking scenery for only $10/person. If you’re a student, that drops down to $5. Admission is free on Tuesdays, 10am-12pm on Saturdays, and winter weekends (November-February).
