According to a press release featured on NYC Newswire, Bojangles, the renowned Southern cuisine chain famous for its chicken, biscuits, and breakfast served all day, is set to return to New York City with an ambitious expansion spearheaded by local entrepreneur Habib Hashimi. The North Carolina-based brand has inked a 20-store franchise agreement to introduce its flavors to NYC within the next ten years. The first Bojangles in the city is already under construction in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, and is scheduled to open this winter.
Brooklyn Pioneers Bojangles’ Entry into NYC
Bojangles’ comeback to the city follows a brief presence in the 1980s. This time, the company is leveraging Brooklyn’s vibrant and multicultural neighborhoods to re-establish itself in NYC. The initial site in East Flatbush is the first of many planned for all five boroughs, with a focus on high-traffic areas and neighborhoods celebrated for their food culture.
Franchisee Habib Hashimi, operating through Hashimi Holding Corporation, is leading the charge. With significant experience in running quick-service restaurants across New York and Connecticut, Hashimi is optimistic about Bojangles’ prospects in the city.
“Bojangles’ unique menu and franchisee support have always impressed me,” Hashimi remarked. “Our team brings substantial experience in the quick-service sector, and I believe New Yorkers will embrace the Southern taste, service, and convenience Bojangles provides.”

Bojangles’ expansion comes amidst a resurgence of national brands investing in New York’s bustling food scene. The company sees NYC as pivotal in its nationwide growth, citing the city’s energetic pace, high population density, and thriving fast-casual market.
“This is a landmark move as we re-enter the New York metropolitan region,” stated Bojangles CEO Jose Armario. “The East Coast is eager for the authentic Southern flair Bojangles offers, and we look forward to sharing our menu with New Yorkers.”
Alongside the Brooklyn launch, Bojangles has also announced an agreement for 35 more restaurants in New Jersey, solidifying its footprint across the metro area.
Opportunities Ahead for NYC Franchisees
Bojangles is actively seeking franchise partners throughout New York State, presenting business owners a chance to help grow the brand citywide. Ideal partners will need strong restaurant or business management backgrounds and the ability to operate a minimum of three units.
For more than 45 years, Bojangles has gained acclaim in the Southeast thanks to its hand-breaded chicken, fluffy biscuits, and signature breakfast offerings. As the brand expands into new cities like Brooklyn, it is prioritizing local franchisees who can bring its classic Southern hospitality to life.
Bojangles’ launch in East Flatbush may be the beginning of wider changes, as more regional and national chains look to make their mark in Brooklyn and beyond, particularly in communities eager for fresh dining experiences.
