Brian L. Gotlieb, a Civil Court Judge serving in Brooklyn, has formally announced his candidacy for the Kings County Supreme Court. With extensive legal expertise and years of community service, Gotlieb aims to earn a seat on one of Brooklyn’s top courts.

From Civil Court to Supreme Court

Judge Gotlieb was elected to the Civil Court in 2022. In that time, he has earned praise for his calm approach and practical courtroom style, showing notable respect for all participants.

During his tenure, Judge Gotlieb has overseen jury trials and dealt with intricate civil cases. He promotes judicial improvements by representing Kings County on the citywide Civil Court Case Streamlining Committee and co-chairs the Civil Kings Trial Committee, focusing on enhancing the court’s accessibility and effectiveness.

“My campaign for Kings County Supreme Court is driven by a commitment to ensuring every person in the courtroom is treated with dignity, fairness, and respect,” Gotlieb stated in his campaign launch. “I understand the weight of the Supreme Court’s decisions and pledge to bring integrity, compassion, and thoroughness every day, just as I do now.”

A Lifelong Commitment to Service

Judge Gotlieb’s dedication extends beyond the court, with a longstanding record of service across Brooklyn. He has contributed on Community Board 13 and Community School Board 21, working for safer neighborhoods, better education, and affordable housing.

He is also the founder of Shorefront Toys for Tots, a holiday organization honoring his late mother that has distributed gifts to over 50,000 children. Colleagues praise Gotlieb’s community-centered approach, which reinforces the connection between the judiciary and the public it serves.

“My mother always emphasized helping others,” Gotlieb shared. “Serving on the Supreme Court would allow me to continue that legacy—ensuring justice impacts real people and communities.”

As the race continues, Gotlieb’s focus on compassion, fairness, and community engagement highlights his view that judges are also guardians of public confidence in the legal system.
