Celebrate Brooklyn Pride 2025: Rooted in Pride, Powered by Community

Posted By Todd Betzold

Brooklyn will light up with color, community and celebration throughout June, culminating in Brooklyn Pride Day 2025 on Saturday, June 14 — a high-energy, full-day event anchored in this year’s theme: “Rooted in Pride.”

“Rooted in Pride” for 2025

Hosted in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn Pride Day features a unique lineup of festivities including the Northeast’s only Twilight Pride Parade, a bustling street festival, live performances, and a Family Fun Zone, all designed to celebrate and uplift the LGBTQIA+ community.

“We’re always delighted to welcome the many people who come to Park Slope to celebrate Brooklyn Pride,” said Joanna Tallantire, executive director of the Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID, which sponsors and hosts the event. “Our local restaurants, stores and bars are gearing up to celebrate. It’s an event that we all look forward to.”

Pride Day Kicks Off with a 5K and Street Festival

The celebration starts bright and early at 10 a.m. with the annual LGBTQIA+ 5K Run/Walk in Prospect Park. From there, the party moves to Fifth Avenue, where the Brooklyn Pride Street Festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., filling the stretch from Union to Ninth streets with local artisans, food vendors, community organizations, and small businesses.

On the corner of Fifth Avenue and Ninth Street, the Brooklyn Pride Entertainment Stage will showcase a day-long lineup of music and performances, running from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Family Fun and a Twilight Spectacle

For families, the Family Fun Zone will transform the front lawn of the Old Stone House into a rainbow-filled playland from 12 to 4 p.m., with games, crafts and kid-friendly performances perfect for pint-sized revelers.

As the sun sets, the excitement builds toward Brooklyn Pride’s iconic moment: the Twilight Pride Parade, stepping off at 7:30 p.m. from Lincoln Place to Ninth Street, with a reviewing stand at Third Street. The march is expected to feature nearly 2,000 participants, from marching bands and floats to local organizations showing their pride.

This year’s grand marshals include City Council Member Chi Ossé and the Prospect Park Women’s Softball League, both honored for their ongoing advocacy and impact in Brooklyn’s LGBTQIA+ spaces.

A Week of Events Leading Up to the Big Day

Brooklyn Pride is more than just a single event, it’s a full week of programming. Kicking off on Monday, June 9, the Brooklyn Pride Honors celebrate outstanding community members. Tuesday brings Lunch With Pride and a night of stand-up comedy.

On Wednesday, June 11, join the interfaith service and a virtual round of drag bingo, while Thursday offers an outdoor LGBTQIA+ film screening at the Old Stone House. Friday night delivers Pride Night at the Brooklyn Cyclones, blending baseball with bold expressions of identity. And the festivities conclude with the Everybooty Tea Party at BAM on Sunday, June 15.

A Community Celebration That Gives Back

Behind it all is Brooklyn Pride, Inc., the nonprofit organizing the celebration. Active year-round, the group directs proceeds from Pride events to support local LGBTQIA+ initiatives and community organizations.

“We look forward to showing our Brooklyn PRIDE,” said Mickey Heller, event co-chair. “Be loving, be brave, be proud!”
