Civil rights lawyer Chidi A. Eze has formally declared his candidacy for Kings County Civil Court Judge in the 4th Municipal District, which encompasses Brownsville, East New York, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Canarsie, Crown Heights, and East Flatbush. Early voting will occur from October 25 to November 2, and Election Day is scheduled for November 4, 2025.

From Nigeria to Brooklyn: An Advocacy Journey

Originally from Nigeria, Eze settled in Brooklyn and has spent over twenty years advocating for New Yorkers in foreclosure defense, employment discrimination, and civil rights matters. His Downtown Brooklyn office is recognized for representing working families, homeowners, and employees challenging systemic injustice.

“My candidacy for Kings County Civil Court Judge is grounded in my lifelong commitment to fairness, justice, and the communities of Brooklyn,” Eze explained in his campaign launch press release. “Since starting my Brooklyn law office more than two decades ago, I have worked to defend homeowners from predatory foreclosures, support workers facing workplace injustice, and champion civil rights in our courts.”

Advancing Justice and the Foreclosure Abuse Prevention Act

Over his career, Eze has handled more than 100 federal cases involving civil rights and employment discrimination. He played a role in shaping the Foreclosure Abuse Prevention Act, which has helped thousands of New York families avoid losing their homes.

“Arriving in Brooklyn with only a dream and the commitment to serve, I know the challenges firsthand,” he shared. “My focus has always been on empowering those who cannot fight injustice alone.”

A Commitment to Fairness and Integrity

If elected, Eze intends to bring the same passion for fairness and accessibility to the court that has defined his legal practice.

As judge, Eze promised to make sure “our courts serve not just those with influence, but every individual in Brooklyn.”
