Dancers Wanted: Brooklyn Nets’ Iconic Dance Team Launches Summer Tryouts

Posted By Todd Betzold

The spotlight is on Brooklyn this summer as the Brooklynettes, the official dance team of the Brooklyn Nets, gear up for another thrilling season by opening their doors to fresh talent.

Auditions Kick Off June 28 with Celebrity Choreographers

Auditions for the 2025–26 squad will kick off on June 28 at St. Joseph’s College, welcoming dancers 18 and older to bring their skills, confidence, and individuality to the court. Over four high-energy days, aspiring team members will be put to the test by some of the dance industry’s most recognizable names.

Day one begins with choreography led by none other than Jonte’ Moaning, the famed heels choreographer known for his work with Beyoncé and other A-list performers. Dancers who advance will return the next day to learn a fast-paced hip-hop routine from assistant coach and resident choreographer Celine Edmondson, whose resume includes gigs with Lil Kim, Remy Ma, and Netflix’s Dance 100.

What the Brooklynettes Are Looking For

But it’s not just about hitting the beats. Criscia Long, senior director of entertainment at BSE Global, says the Brooklynettes are looking for more than technique — they want heart, presence, and authenticity.

“We’re looking for trained dancers with star quality and the right experience and skills,” Long told Brooklyn Paper. “But beyond that, we want dancers who bring their whole self to performing. Authenticity always wins and is always valued on the Brooklynettes.”

More Than a Game: Representing Brooklyn Around the Globe

The Brooklynettes aren’t just sideline stars. From performing at every Nets home game at Barclays Center to appearing at community events and international showcases, these dancers embody the spirit of Brooklyn. Their performances have been featured in The New York Times, The Cut, and New York Post, solidifying their reputation as one of the most versatile and dynamic dance teams in professional sports.

“From performances inspired by the biggest artists to those celebrating our Nets Unite theme nights, which highlight the diverse cultures that make up Brooklyn, the Brooklynettes are uniquely and authentically Brooklyn,” Long added.

A High-Profile Judging Panel Sets the Bar

Auditions will be overseen by Long, with a lineup of high-profile judges including Fatima Wilson of UTA Talent Agency and choreographers Miles Keeney (RuPaul’s Drag Race) and Neil Schwartz (America’s Got Talent), ensuring dancers are evaluated by top-tier industry pros.

Dancers interested in auditioning can find more details and registration info on the Brooklynettes’ official Instagram.
