The Broadway League’s Black to Broadway initiative is bringing back its highly anticipated Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth concert on Thursday, June 19, for a fifth year of honoring freedom, culture, and Black excellence through the arts. The free outdoor celebration will take place in Times Square from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., rain or shine.
A Free Concert Featuring 15 Broadway Shows
Audiences can expect powerful performances from a wide range of Broadway productions, including & Juliet, Boop! The Musical, Buena Vista Social Club, Chicago, Gypsy, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Hell’s Kitchen, The Lion King, MJ, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Pirates! The Penzance Musical, Ragtime, Real Women Have Curves, Six: The Musical, and Wicked.
Also returning is the talented youth ensemble Young Gifted and Broadway, known for their inspiring performances. All acts will be accompanied by live music, supported by The Music Performance Trust Fund and the Film Funds.
Meet the Performers
A dynamic lineup of Broadway artists will take the stage. The performers include Blu Allen, Tia Altinay, Rayven Bailey, Angela Birchett, Ariana Burks, Alejandro Muller Dahlberg, Cicily Daniels, John Edwards, Tré Frazier, Brett Gray, Donnie Hammond, Quincy Hampton, Matthew Fredrick Harris, and Khaila Johnson.
Also set to hit the stage are Cameron Amandus Jones, Kecia Lewis, Nichelle Lewis, Tatiana Lofton, Omar Madden, Jenny Mollet, Mason Reeves, Tyrone Robinson, Jasmine Amy Rogers, Ayanna Thomas, NaTasha Yvette Williams, Wesley Wray, and cast members from Hell’s Kitchen.
Hosted by Broadway Favorites
Two-time Tony nominee Jon Michael Hill and two-time Tony winner Kara Young, who starred in the 2025 Tony Award-winning Purpose, will serve as co-hosts for the event, bringing energy and heart to the stage.
This year’s Juneteenth Legacy Award will be presented to Broadway legend André De Shields, a Tony Award-winning actor and longtime advocate for the arts. De Shields is celebrated for his iconic roles in The Wiz, Ain’t Misbehavin’, The Full Monty, and Hadestown.
The League praised De Shields as “a passionate advocate for both performance and philanthropy,” highlighting the establishment of the André De Shields Fund at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
