Kota the Friend’s ‘No Rap on Sunday’ Tour: 20 Cities & Birthday Homecoming!

Posted By Sandy Whitaker

Independent hip hop artist Kota the Friend is set to hit the road again, bringing his praised No Rap on Sunday album to cities nationwide. The No Rap on Sunday Tour launches Thursday, August 28 in Tampa, Florida, and concludes in Kota’s hometown of Brooklyn, New York on October 16—an especially meaningful show coinciding with his birthday.

It’s More Than the Music

For Kota, each release is more than an album—it’s a full-scale campaign. No Rap on Sunday embraces an album, a tour, exclusive merch, and a vision that echoes with his devoted listeners. The project was first shared to superfans through early access via the EVEN platform, strengthening the connection with his audience and highlighting Kota’s innovative spirit as an indie musician.

Kota shared with NYC Newswire: “Every project I release is about more than music—it’s about meaningful connections. With No Rap on Sunday, I aimed to deliver something unique right away, from exclusive early streaming to this national tour.”

Verse Challenge: Supporting Indie Talent

Staying true to his collaborative drive, Kota introduced the No Rap on Sunday Verse Challenge. Unsigned artists from all over were encouraged to record a verse for the title song. Winners in certain cities get to open for Kota during the tour and will also have a special opportunity: a feature verse from Kota on their upcoming single.

“This is about giving independent rappers a platform like I never had,” Kota remarked to NYC Newswire. “If I can help more talented people get heard, we’re all better for it. Sharing a track with the winners is something I’m really looking forward to.”

This initiative strengthens Kota’s mission to uplift emerging artists nationwide.
