Whether you’re unwinding after a long week or curating the perfect weekend playlist, Kota the Friend just gave music lovers a new vibe to ride into Friday with. His latest release blends smooth production, standout vocals, and a message that hits deeper than the beat — and it’s only a taste of what’s to come.
New Music Friday
Just in time for New Music Friday, Kota the Friend released his newest single, “Cozy Girls,” from his highly anticipated upcoming album, No Rap on Sunday.
“Cozy Girls” features writer/vocalist Liana Banks, who happens to be a well known and is recognized as one of the top writers in the music industry. Banks has written songs for Saweetie, PNB Rock, Demi Lovato, Jodeci, Fabolous, Jadakiss and others. She often delivers a smooth, soulful layer to the track.
In a press release, Kota said, “Liana has a great sound. She was perfect for this track.”
A Song That Celebrates Women
When it comes to “Cozy Girls,” it’s all about celebrating a certain kind of woman.
When talking about the song, Kota said it’s a “chill yet upbeat song that celebrates women that have high standards for themselves and the energies that they allow into their lives. These types of women aren’t celebrated nearly enough, so I wanted to show them some love via ‘Cozy Girls.’”
Kota’s Full Album Release
While it is exciting to get a new single from Kota, we won’t have his full album for a little while longer. The full No Rap on Sunday album is scheduled to be released on all DSPs in July.
However, for those Kota fans wanting to stream it early, you can do just that via EVEN.biz, an exclusive platform allowing direct artist-to-fan music access.
Kota said in the press release that this is more than just an album — it’s a message and a mission. He added, “No Rap on Sunday is a movement. It’s about peace, balance, and creating space to breathe in a world that never stops moving. It’s a reminder to slow down, to reflect, to feel something real.”
Perfect Follow-Up Song
The release of “Cozy Girls” happens to come at the perfect time and is a perfect follow-up to “Michigan,” featuring Big Sean. This new single shows fans a different texture in his sound — intimate, melodic, and focused on mood. The song speaks to independence, femininity, and finding warmth in a chaotic world.
“Each song on No Rap on Sunday serves a purpose. ‘Michigan’ was the intro, but ‘Cozy Girls’ is the vibe check. It’s where we slow it down and enjoy the moment,” Kota said.
“Cozy Girls” was available on all streaming platforms as of midnight today.
