Celebrate the Holiday Season at Brooklyn’s On Stage at Kingsborough With Musical Hanukkah Celebration, “8 Days of Klezmer,” and Christmas Favorite, “The Nutcracker” from The State Ballet Theatre of Russia 

Brooklyn, New York –On Stage at Kingsborough, a leading performing arts presenter located at Brooklyn’s Kingsborough Community College presents its 2017-2018 season, featuring world class artists from around the globe. On Stage at Kingsborough brings top notch performing arts to Southern Brooklyn with an eclectic roster of artists spanning multiple genres including cabaret, dance, music, and family programming. The full season runs through May 19, 2018.

This year, On Stage At Kingsborough celebrates the holidays with two world-class events.

On Sunday, December 3rd at 3:00pm kick off the Hanukkah celebrations with a special holiday themed performance presented and hosted by MusicTalks. Join Host Elad Kabilio, the Israeli ensemble 12th Night Klezmer and guest vocalist and Yiddish theatre star, Daniella Rabbani as they explore the unique spirit of klezmer with melodies of joyful sorrow, and Gypsy-flavored Hanukkah favorites from the Shtetls of Eastern Europe to the streets of New York City in “8 Days of Klezmer.”

On Sunday, December 17th at 3:00pm the holiday classic “The Nutcracker” comes alive in a breathtaking presentation from the esteemed State Ballet Theatre of Russia. This is a full-length ballet in two acts with an epilogue. Audiences will be transported by this stunning full-scale production featuring Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s wondrous score, choreography by world-renowned Marius Petipa and The Mariinsky’s Vasily Vainonen and 40 of Russia’s brightest ballet stars in glorious costumes.

Elad Kabilio is a renowned Israeli cellist and founder of MusicTalks, an organization which breaks down the barriers between musicians and audience by taking advantage of the intimacy that the music provides. With engaging and interactive conversation, the listener is given an experience that truly makes Music Talk.

12th Night Klezmer is an all-Israeli ensemble who have trained at the world’s leading music conservatories and have been featured in festivals worldwide.  Daniella Rabbani has traveled the world with The National Yiddish Theater, performing alongside Mandy Patinkin, Ron Rifkin, and Tovah Feldshuh at Lincoln Center, Town Hall, and most recently at The Jewish State Theater in Warsaw, Poland.

The Nutcracker, a perennial holiday favorite, is a captivating adventure through a little girl’s fantasy world filled with fairies, princes, toy soldiers, and an army of endearing mice. Audiences will be transported by this stunning full-scale production featuring Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s wondrous score, choreography by world-renowned Marius Petipa and The Mariinsky’s Vasily Vainonen, and 40 of Russia’s brightest ballet stars in glorious costumes.

The State Ballet Theatre of Russia (from the city of Voronezh), founded by the legendary Bolshoi Theatre Ballet principal dancer, Maya Plisetskaya, is now directed by the award-winning Moiseyev Dance Company soloist Nikolay Anokhin.

On Stage at Kingsborough (OSK) brings artistically and culturally diverse, multi-disciplinary performances from masters of the form to the varied communities within and surrounding Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn. We strive to create an environment where the arts are an accessible and integral part of life, and the Arts Center is a community gathering place for interaction and inspiration. We present world class dance, cabaret, theatre, music, and family performances in the Leon M. Goldstein Performing Arts Center and Kingsborough Community College’s Lighthouse from October to May, and our Hot Summer Nights! free outdoor concert series at Kingsborough Community College’s bandshell every July. Our school-time shows welcome classes from local public and private schools, a majority of which serves economically-disadvantaged or special needs populations.
