On October 8th, Riah Lee Kinsey, MLS will offer a compelling exploration of the life and times of Mary Jones, the antebellum tabloid sensation whose 1836 felony case laid the foundation of archival visibility for New York City’s Black transgender community.

Hetal Vasavada, author of Milk and Cardamom, grew up in New Jersey in a family of Gujarati home cooks who raised her on chai, cardamom-spiced shortbreads, and sweet puddings. In her latest book, Desi Bakes, she blends those traditional Indian flavors, as well as Indian culture, handicrafts, and art, with Western baking techniques. Learn what to bring to a friend’s Diwali celebration, how to use rose syrup to sweeten chai, and how to mimic beautiful Indian textiles with icing on cookies at this sweet conversation between Hetal Vasavada and Samantha Seneviratne.

Catherine Schuller, founder of Runway the Real Way, is a trailblazer in fashion diversity, a former Ford plus-size model, and an event producer who has also served as an editor at MODE magazine. She brings her expertise in inclusive fashion, image consulting, and her love of upcycled comic book jewelry to the event. Rick Davy, founder of the BK Style Foundation and creative director of Fashion Week Brooklyn, is a visionary leader who has worked as a stylist, fashion consultant, and photographer. His commitment to education and empowering youth, particularly low-income and BIPOC students, has been a cornerstone of his work. Together, these curators will deliver a dynamic showcase that celebrates innovation, diversity, and sustainability in fashion.

Morriss Park is set to make waves in the Big Apple, bringing his one-of-a-kind sound and high-energy live performance to The Delancey on November 14, 2024, at 10 PM. A Kansas native with a genre-defying style, Morriss has spent over 20 years honing his craft, blending hip hop, R&B, and soul into a sound all his own. Known for his introspective songwriting and electric stage presence, Morriss Park is a rising force in the music scene, and this show promises to be unforgettable.
