East New York MegaChurch CCC Starts Process on 2.4 Million Sq Ft Mega Development Dubbed ‘Innovative Urban Village’

Posted By NYC Newswire

Pastor Bernard’s Christian Cultural Center (CCC) has started the process to develop a 2.4 million square foot development in East New York on the land surrounding the megachurch.  Pastor Bernard purchased the property years ago in the early 90’s from the former owners of Starrett City.

The development design is being created by Practice Architecture and Urbanism (PAU), the company that designed the redevelopment of the Domino Sugar plant in Williamsburg.  The development will include 13 buildings, of which 9 are slated for residential use.

The development, as it stands, would include a trade school, elementary school, grocery store and day care center, along with parking and outdoor space.

The developers have requested zoning amendments which will go through the ULURP process, which is the public review process. CCC is opening their doors Tuesday March 3 at 3:30pm to hear from local residents.  CCC is located at 12020 Flatlands Ave.

Developers say they want to break ground by the end of 2021 and the project can take up to 10 years to complete. The developers are also saying that the project will include affordable housing, but who knows what affordable will look like 10 years from now.  Affordable isn’t affordable today so “affordable” in 10 years is frightening.
