The Renaissance in ENY continues, as Shop Rite becomes the Title Sponsor of three major events in the area; The East Brooklyn Outdoor Movies, Outdoor Jazz and the 2nd Annual East Brooklyn 5K Run/Walk! Shop Rite’s 90,000 square foot store is located at 590 Gateway Drive inside the Gateway Center Mall.
The East Brooklyn Outdoor Movies will showcase independent short films and 1 feature film every Monday in August, beginning Monday August 3 at 7pm. The lineup includes fan favorites, and is listed below:
Monday Aug. 3 – Annie
Monday Aug 10 – Crooklyn
Monday Aug 17 – Princess & The Frog
Monday Aug 24 – The Wiz
Monday Aug 31 – Drumline
The artists for the East Brooklyn Outdoor Jazz Concert has not been announced yet, but the press release states that there will be 5 jazz bands/artists performing on August 29.
The 2nd Annual East Brooklyn 5K Run/Walk is Saturday September 29. The 5K starts at Gershwin Park and ends at the Gateway Center Mall park, on Gateway Drive at the mall. If you haven’t been to the park at Gateway in East New York, then you are in for a surprise. The park has a bike path and plenty of trees and grass, along with a well taken care of cricket field.
