Witches Walk – Greenpoint

Big news for this annual Brooklyn fave: It’s no longer in Williamsburg! Longtime organizer, second-hand baby and kids’ shop The Flying Squirrel, has relocated to Greenpoint and the parade has moved with it. Since the shop literally just opened in its new space, the procession will be a brief one on Franklin Street to Greenpoint Avenue and then back for a party. We’re glad to hear the tradition will continue!

Cobble Hill Halloween Parade – Cobble Hill
Line up in Cobble Hill Park, Clinton Street and Verandah Place

As in years past, this parade will wind its way through the neighborhood with the Jah Pan Steel Drum Band leading the way. Afterward, families can trick-or-treat on Clinton Street. Make sure you pass by the incredible Halloween pumpkin house on Kane Street especially since this is the last year artist Jane Greengold is creating the display at this location.

Prospect Park South Parade – Prospect Park South
Line up at 1306 Albemarle Road near Argyle Road

Local families gather on the corner to snack on seasonal treats and then march through the nabe.

West Midwood Halloween Parade – West Midwood
Line up at Glenwood and Rugby Roads

The procession starts at 6:30pm and heads around the neighborhood.

Park Slope Civic Council Children’s Halloween Parade – Park Slope

One of our favorite Halloween events for families has a literary theme this year: To Boo or Not to Boo. Come dressed as your favorite fictional character, Shakespearean or otherwise, or you know, just wear your costume. Little ghouls and goblins march along Seventh Avenue to Third Street, then turn left to Fifth Avenue and end at the Old Stone House, where the party continues with live music, dancing and other festivities. Make sure you pass by 2nd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues to check out the amazing Ghost Ship.

BAMboo! – Fort Greene

The 12th annual fest has an ancient Egypt theme this year. Expect sphinxes, snakes and Cleopatras at this bash featuring candy giveaways, a costume contest, an obstacle course, button-making, hieroglyphics workshops, carnival games and performances by the Brooklyn Music School’s Rock Ensemble, deejays from Scratch DJ Academy and roaming stilt walkers.

Halloween 313 – Fort Greene

Every Halloween, the creative volunteers at this house (including lots of theater design pros) put on a one-night-only, one-of-a-kind, over-the-top creep show for all ages. This year’s edition is called 20,000 Screams Under the Sea: A Steampunk Adventure so expect creepy animatronics mixed with Victorian glamor. Performances run approximately every 30 minutes and take place outside. It’s always mobbed so arrive early to get a good spot.

Halloween Kids Parade and Party – Dumbo
Line up at Brooklyn Roasting Company, 25 Jay Street near John Street

Enjoy scary stories, a set by Preschool of Rock, a costume contest and complimentary hot chocolate at the Brooklyn Roasting Company. Then at 4:30pm, head out into the streets for a short procession, which includes trick-or-treating at partcipating neighborhood shops like Dewey’s Candy Store.

Bring your treat bags to the Society for Clinton Hill’s 20th annual parade. Show off your costumes and hit houses and shops throughout the neighborhood. Maps will be handed out the night of so you know where to go.
