Dance Company and America’s cultural ambassador to the world, returns to the
New York City Center stage for its annual, five-week holiday engagement,
December 4 – January 5, celebrating Legacy in Motion. Featuring the world
premieres of Sacred Songs by Interim Artistic Director Matthew Rushing, Finding
Free by Hope Boykin, Many Angels by Lar Lubovitch, and Al-Andalus
Blues by Jamar Roberts. The season also includes the 25th anniversary staging
of Ronald K. Brown’s rapturous blockbuster Grace and a new production of
Elisa Monte’s mesmerizing Treading. Live music will be presented at
select performances of Finding Free, Sacred Songs, and Alvin
Ailey’s soul-stirring masterpiece Revelations.

Annual Tree Lighting- Nov 26, 6 pm | The Annual Atlantic Avenue Tree Lighting Ceremony will be officiated by Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon, Council Member Lincoln Restler, and Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso at 401 Atlantic Avenue. Girl Scout Troops 2133 and 2518 will count down to the lighting of the tree and Brooklyn High School of the Arts choir will sing holiday songs throughout the evening. Free ‘Shop & Dine Atlantic Ave’ tote bags filled with special deals and offers from Atlantic Avenue businesses will be distributed.
Children’s Party with Santa– Dec 7, 12-3 pm | Children are invited to decorate the Hoyt Street Garden, 98 Hoyt Street with DIY ornaments. Special appearance by Santa!
‘Walk the Windows Weekend’- Dec 7-8 | View wintry window displays from local businesses, enjoy special deals, Santa, and more.
Festivity Weekends- Dec 14, 15, 21, 22 | Santa will walk down Atlantic Avenue to take pictures and spread holiday cheer. Enjoy live performances from a brass quartet throughout the day and get a free reusable ‘Shop & Dine Atlantic Ave’ tote bag.
AALDC Toy Drive- Until Dec 12- | The AALDC Annual Toy Drive provides toys and donations to disadvantaged children and families at local homeless shelters and other partners. With your contribution of funds or toys, we can bring smiles to the faces of many children this holiday season. Any amount is appreciated and helpful. Join us on Saturday, December 7th for our 22nd Annual Sinterklaas- St. Nicholas Day Celebration. We hope you can join us for a fun-filled day of craft activities, a tree lighting, and a special visit from St. Nick.
Children will enjoy a visit from St. Nicholas as he arrives on horseback around 2:30PM. St. Nicholas will tell the traditional tale of The Bakers Dozen and children are invited to sign the Red Book. Sip hot cider, try your hand at colonial games, create a holiday pomander, decorate a Dutch clog for Sinterklaas, and dress the tree for the tree lighting that will close the day as the sun goes down.
