What Does It Mean To Be A Caregiver?

Posted By Pia Fergus

Do you take your elderly mother or grandmother food shopping? Do you refill your grandfather’s prescriptions? Do you make doctor’s appointments for your great aunt? If you do any of these things on a regular, routine basis, you may be considered a “Caregiver”.

A caregiver is a family member or close friend that decides to take care of a senior in need, while also maintaining their own personal and work lives. Most people do not know that they fit the “caregiver” role, and so they are not properly trained or educated on all of the tasks that they are required to do as a caregiver. Most caregiver’s also do not know that they can be paid to help their loved ones, which can create extra income for them.
