The Sunset Park Business Improvement District is hosting a candidates forum for State Senatorial District 20 hopefuls. Borough President Eric Adams previously held the seat, but it became vacant when he took office as borough president on Jan. 1. The District includes a portion of Sunset Park and Crown Heights, as well as slivers of Park Slope and Prospect Heights.
Both candidates vying for the seat are running as democrats, so Sept. 8th’s primary election will decide the next state senator. The candidates are Jesse Hamilton of Crown Heights — an attorney, the District Leader of Assembly District 43, and former counsel to State SEn. Eric Adams — and Rubain Dorancy, also of Crown Heights, an attorney and former educator.
