Private View l Incoming by Richard Mosse

Performance l Widening Gyre by Ben Frost

Installation l Exquisite Corpse by Trevor Tweeten

Quo Vadis takes a deep dive even further into experimental realms this May with a screening of an immersive video installation by Richard Mosse followed by a special performance from Ben Frost in a private loft location in Ridgewood

The evening begins with a screening of Incoming, Richard Mosse’s 2017 collaboration with Trevor Tweeten and Ben Frost. The three screen HD video installation with 7.3 surround sound utilizes thermographic border surveillance footage to portray the mass migration of refugees. An index of bodily vulnerability is conveyed by this powerful military-grade heat camera, which can image human body heat from a distance of 18 miles, day or night. A Q&A session follows with the Mosse, Tweeten and Frost. Entry for this portion of the event can be gained only through RSVP:

After a short break, we return for an in-the-round concert from Ben Frost entitled Widening Gyre. The Australian-born, Reykjavík-based composer will be performing the North American premiere of his 2017 album ‘The Centre Cannot Hold’

The Steve Albini produced LP pits violent and ethereal sounds against each other, tussling as they create vast soundscapes that rock between darkness and light

Trevor Tweeten’s corporeal 16mm multi-projection installation Exquisite Corpse, Movement in Five Parts will play during the evening portion of the event, bringing movement and physicality to the space

Also, on the lineup is JIJI , who will play a repertoire of classical and minimal pieces supported by a chamber orchestra

We are co-presenting this extraordinary event with Mute Records

This special event celebrates the inauguration and launch of Strange Edition: Studio & Arts Center
