Laurie Cumbo, the new City Council Member for the 35th District (Ft Greene/Clinton Hill) held her inauguration and swearing in this evening at the Ingersoll Community Center on Myrtle Ave. Cumbo said she chose the venue to show her commitment to improving conditions at the 35 Council District’s public housing projects. “Over the past few decades, NYCHA residents have often felt neglected so it was important for me to have it there so the residents know that they have not been forgotten,” she said.
Cumbo is the Founder of MoCADA (Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Ft. Greene, so she is expected to continue her support of the arts as the Council Member for the area.
