Summer Reading Kickoff 2017 At The Brooklyn Public Library Starting June 8th!

“Summer Reading at Brooklyn Public Library kicks off on Thursday, June 8, 2017 with free, fun activities and entertainment from 10:30 am – 3:00 pm on the Central Library Plaza. This year, the plaza will be transformed into a maker space with projects for all ages.

Fun Activities and Music on the Plaza with host Elaine Gil*

10:30 am – Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats

10:30 am – 3:00 pm – Summer Reading Tent

Sign up for Summer Reading and get your booklist, game and giveaways!

12:00 pm – 2:00 pm – Create a scrap sculpture with award-winning artist Javaka Steptoe.

12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Join in the Big Build and make a castle, fort or skyscraper with ArchForKids.
Check out the Superball Factory with Mad Science of NYC.
Explore artifacts and the language of signal flags with the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
Make an interactive Story Sculpture with Beam Center.
Build with blocks in the First Five Years area.
Face Painting, Temporary Tattoos, and More!
Indoor art Exhibits:

Looking for kickoff events at your neighborhood library? All library branches will host Summer Reading signup events from 2 to 4 pm on Thursday, June 8.
