About:
“Beehive Oven was founded in 2013 by Treva Chadwell and her husband John and reflects a heritage that spans generations. Chef Treva Chadwell was classically trained at the Institute of Culinary Education, but learned how to make the best heritage meals with her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as with her father in his restaurant and catering business. An eighth generation Texan/Louisianan, Treva understands that good food is essential to one’s heritage. Her family has cooked for patriots and pirates.
Treva and John built Beehive Oven on the concept of a historical beehive oven. For years beehive ovens were smaller ovens that attached to a kitchen hearth, and were used to make small batches of tasty dishes. It was the 19th century equivalent of the microwave, but far better. The dishes that came from beehive ovens were made with care and craft. They were never pretentious, and produced aromas and tastes that made a person feel “home.“
Treva has spent the last five years as a recipe developer, tester, cookbook consultant and stylist for the Food Network, CookingChanneltv.com, the Today Show, Kelsey Nixon, as well as many others. Over her professional lifetime, Treva has used a methodical processes and her culinary training to test or develop more that 2,000 unique recipes, and is recognized as one of the best recipe developers and food stylists in NYC. Out of all this experience, the biscuit (specifically Treva’s biscuit), was the recipe that other chefs wanted.
Now she wants to share those biscuits with others. Says Treva, “I want to feed people something that is simply beautiful and delicious and takes them to a feeling of ‘home’.”
