BROOKLYN NY – Car2Go, the carsharing company, made a visit to Brooklyn’s Borough Hall, to give Borough President Eric Adams a first hand look at the car. “I welcome the addition of car2go to Brooklyn’s highways and byways,” said Brooklyn Borough President, Eric L. Adams. “As Borough President of our city’s destination for innovation, I further applaud the ‘drive’ of car2go to shakeup the urban transportation landscape through the company’s per minute fee structure and its environmentally-friendly fleet of cars.”
Exclusively for Brooklyn, car2go will be providing 400 smart vehicles for shared use. This market currently covers 36 square miles, allowing members to pick up and drop off a car2go anywhere within the Home Area. As the only true, point-to-point car-sharing service, car2go allows members to use the service by the minute, hour and day, 24 hours a day, and seven days a week – without committing to a specific return time or dedicated location.
“Since car2go’s launch in 2009, car2go has continued to accelerate Daimler’s overall mobility services strategy,” said Bodo Uebber, member of the Board of Management at Daimler AG, responsible for Finance & Controlling and Daimler Financial Services, the division of Daimler that oversees car2go. “Brooklyn is a key investment, and we are thrilled to provide Daimler’s world-class mobility service to the area. The Daimler AG extends its deep appreciation to the Brooklyn Borough President, Eric L. Adams, for his continued support to bring Brooklyn residents and visitors a true one-way carsharing service that will significantly help them get around the Borough with ease.”
To locate the nearest car2go vehicle, members can visit the smartphone app, available on both iTunes and Google Play, the car2go website, or simply on the street anywhere within the 36-square mile car2go Brooklyn Home Area. When members are finished using a car2go, they may park at any on-street, non-metered space within the car2go Home Area. Members are asked to pay attention to the street sweeping guidelines in the parking rules, located at brooklyn.car2go.com. Parking, fuel, insurance and maintenance are included at no additional cost.
“We are super pumped that Brooklyn residents and visitors now have the opportunity to use our simple point-to-point carsharing service to navigate around the borough,” stated Paul DeLong, CMO of car2go North America. “We are truly committed to the communities we serve, and we look forward to interacting with all residents, while providing a much needed stress-free transport solution to their everyday lives.”
